My love for birds started when I was a kid. I grew up with my grandparents who spent countless hours at the kitchen table watching birds in their backyard. Seeing their faces light up when they saw a new bird or when one would use the birdhouse my grandpa built by hand taught me how something so small can bring so much happiness. It also made me realize how so much natural beauty often goes overlooked and unnoticed.
As I’ve grown older, I’ve seen the damage climate change and our actions have done to the planet, and specifically, the habitats our birds live in. We’ve lost nearly 3 billion birds in the last 50 years- and it’s continuously getting worse. We can make changes and take actions to help prevent the extinction of our birds and prevent seeing a rapid decline in our ecosystem.
In addition to our individual actions, we at Overstory have chosen to donate 5% of every purchase to the American Bird Conservancy. The American Bird Conservancy is a non-profit organization that focuses solely on the conservation of wild birds and their habitats in America.
